2016 Tall Building Award Recipients Announced
CTBUH has revealed the winners and finalists for the 2016 Tall Building Awards. This year saw some of the most forward-looking entries yet, with 132 submissions vying for recognition.

Plans Revealed for 200 Amsterdam Avenue in New York City
Plans have been revealed for 200 Amsterdam Avenue, which will rise 203 meters to its roof, becoming the tallest building on the Upper West Side of New York City. The proposed tower’s 400,000 square feet (37,000 square meters) of gross floor area will feature 112 residences spread across 51 stories.
Completion Date Scheduled for Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg
Situated on the banks of the Elbe River in Hamburg's HafenCity district, the Elbphilharmonie is scheduled to open its doors on January 11, 2017. With a final height of 110 meters, it will be the tallest building in the city, and is poised to include a hotel, private apartments, and three concert halls.
Sydney’s 200 George Street Tower is Now Open
The 155-meter 200 George Street has officially completed and opened to the public. The natural aesthetic and innovative façade of the tower provide an insight into the project’s aspiration to be one of Australia’s most technologically advanced and sustainable properties.
Istanbul’s AND Office Tower Completes
A split 110-meter office tower located in the Kozyatağı financial district has officially completed. The 26-story building has been succinctly named AND after the client, the multinational Anadolu Group, and it features a number of flexible and accessible work environments organized around a central service core.
World’s Longest Tunnel Slide Opens to the Public in London
The United Kingdom can now boast about having the longest tunnel slide in the world after the nearly 183-meter-long and 76-meter-high ride, simply called The Slide, opened to the public on June 24. The slide wraps around the ArcelorMittal Orbit, an observation tower built for the London Olympics in 2012.
New 151-Meter Bank Headquarters Planned for Dubai
After announcing plans for its relocation in January 2016, a Dubai-based bank has appointed a construction company to build its new headquarters building in downtown Dubai. The firm is scheduled to begin construction in December under a 28-month contract, with the tower due for completion in April 2019.
