September 2007
Dear Colleagues:

Welcome to our new format Newsletter that now combines the Tall Building Newsletter and the CTBUH Email Update into a single monthly communication. Please take some time to explore the Newsletter as it now features all the information about the Council and our activities, as well as recent news from around the world on tall buildings. Congratulations and thanks to our Newsletter Editor Natalie Brush, and her team, who put this together. As always, feedback on the continued changes and developments that we are making to our publications and communications is always welcome - please send your comments or suggestions to info@ctbuh.org.
Theses changes and improvements to our organization, our web site, our journals and other publications will be the main subject of the Steering Group Meeting that will take place at IIT in October, immediately before our Awards dinner on 25th Oct. In the last 2 years the Council has put increasing emphasis on the function of the Steering Group to lead and direct the Council, to help it become the organization that we want. With a surge in membership and a surge in support from the building industry from around the world, the Council is growing at its fastest rate in many years and we have the opportunity to develop and improve the services we offer. Again any suggestions and comments can be made to any member of the Steering group or via the email address above.
Congratulations to this year's winners of the CTBUH Annual Awards and I hope you will join us at our annual Awards dinner that will be held in Chicago on Oct 25th 2007. Please see the separate article on the award winners above.
We have recieved a very strong response to our request for papers for our 8th World Congress planned for March 2008 in Dubai. We have a spectacular line-up of speakers who have confirmed that they will be presenting papers on their work, and we have a few slots still available: the deadline for papers is not due until the end of September, so there is still time to submit a paper and I suggest you contact awood@ctbuh.org if you plan to do so. The sponsorship opportunities and exhibition opportunities are also going remarkably quickly and you should contact us if you wish to participate. Please book early to avoid dissappointment - you can book on-line through www.ctbuh2008.com
I look forward to seeing you there.
Sincerely,
David Scott
