First Speakers Named for London Conference: Height and Heritage
Some of the biggest names in the industry have already committed to speak at the upcoming 2013 London Conference, including Helmut Jahn, Peter Rees, Rafael Vinoly and Christoph Ingenhoven.
  CTBUH Starts US$300,000 Research Project on LCA of Structural Systems
Arcelor Mittal has commissioned the Council's research department to study the life cycle of structural systems in tall buildings. The kick-start meeting took place in Chicago in early November.

Mile-high Monument to the Equator May Actually be Built
The provincial governor of Ecuador's capital city, Quito, is still planning to construct The Tower of the Sun, a mile-high Raphael Viñoly-designed skyscraper located directly on the equator. The project, which has been discussed for years, may cost as much as US$200 million.
Moscow Tower Overtakes The Shard
Construction on the 75-story Mercury City Tower in Moscow has surpassed the height of The Shard as the structure topped out at 339 meters in early November. The 306-meter Shard will become the tallest building in Europe when it is completed next year.
Dubai Announces Wind Code Revisions
The Dubai Municipality hopes to soon mandate the use of wind tunnel testing in the design of the region's tall buildings. The revised Wind Code requires designers to evaluate the impact of their buildings on the city and is based on international guidelines.
New Photos of Collapsed Crane in New York
Curbed New York and Construction Graffiti obtained some "vertigo-inducing" photos of the infamous collapsed crane perched on top of Manhattan's One57. The crane, which was finally secured November 4, collapsed in the 90-mile-per-hour winds of superstorm Sandy.
Paris Development Making Progress
Plans to build two of Europe's tallest towers in a Paris suburb are moving forward, despite community protests. The Russian developer expects to have financing in place for the Hermitage Plaza towers by January, according to a Reuters report.
Tall Tower Project Resurrected in Qatar
Qatar-based Lusail Real Estate Development Company (LREDC) has announced plans to restart work on the 112-story Doha Convention Centre Tower two years after its initial launch. The company has invited firms to submit bids for the construction of the 551-meter-tall project.

Post-Congress Regional Tour Reports Now Available
From Shenzen to Nanjing, groups of delegates from the CTBUH Shanghai World Congress took advantage of free regional city tours after the Congress. Reports are also offered in Chinese.
