By 2017, Comcast Corp. will surpass the height of its own Philadelphia HQ in a new skyscraper development that will accommodate its expanding workforce. The 341-meter tower, designed by Foster + Partners, is set to become the tallest building in the US outside New York and Chicago upon completion.
Guangzhou Graced by Glazed Doughnut

Vida Residence Launched in Downtown Dubai
Emaar Properties has launched a swanky new 57-story residential tower in downtown Dubai. The fully-serviced 320-unit apartment complex targets the changing demographic of the city. The tower connects to the existing Vida Hotel, which provides full services to the residents, via a glass bridge.

North America’s Tallest Hotel Opens
The Marriott Hotel chain has opened what it is calling the “tallest all-hotel building” in North America, at 1717 Broadway in New York. At 229.7 meters, the Courtyard-Residence Inn Central Park is 7 meters taller than the Detroit Marriott, its nearest rival on the continent.
Solar Sheath Revealed on Equator Tower
REX Architecture of New York has revealed plans for an unusually pliable retractable sunshade for its Equator Tower in Kuala Lumpur. Because of the tower’s location near the equator, each side of the 80-story, 380-meter building will receive full solar saturation for at least part of the year.
