The study researches the contributing factors of “sustainability” in both high-rise urban and low-rise suburban contexts using Chicago area neighborhoods and projects as subjects.

Lippo Reveals Millennium Village Vision for Tangerang
Developer Lippo Karawaci has announced Millennium Village, a 70-hectare project just west of Jakarta. The master plan features three skyscrapers: the Gateway Tower and the Super Tower, at 75 stories each, and the 100-story Iconic Tower, all designed by Singapore-based DPA.
Silverstein Envisions Supertall for New York’s Eleventh Avenue
Confusion and controversy reign over Silverstein Properties’ plans to develop a residential/retail tower project at 514 Eleventh Avenue on Manhattan’s far West Side, which may be more than 1,100 feet (335 meters) tall and may consist of two towers linked at the top.
Jinan Evergrande Tower Joins China's Supertall Race
British architect Terry Farrell's firm has unveiled plans for a 560-meter-high skyscraper in Jinan, which could become one of China's tallest buildings. The tower would form part of an 11-hectare residential and office complex in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province.
Mikou Studio Reveals Design for Brazzaville’s Africanews Headquarters
Paris-based Mikou Design Studio has unveiled plans for its competition-winning new addition to Brazzaville, Congo’s skyline, a 53-meter wood-clad tower that will be the headquarters for Africanews, a Euronews sister channel.
Gehry Skyscraper Feared Too Heavy for Berlin’s Alexanderplatz
The proposal for a Frank Gehry-designed skyscraper for Alexanderplatz is facing concerns that it would be too heavy for its potential site. Officials are worried that the planned tower would be built too close to the U5 metro line.
Qiantan Enterprise World Phase II Breaks Ground
Chicago architecture firm JAHN announced that the Qiantan Enterprise World Phase II office complex broke ground on April 18, 2014, beginning the second phase of the two-tower, 130,000-square-meter headquarters center.
