Jiangxi Greenland Zifeng Tower Completes in Nanchang
American firm SOM has completed a new tower in Gaoxin, a growing high-tech district in Nanchang, China. The Jiangxi Greenland Zifeng Tower's rectangular form is clad in a diagrid structure made of triangular aluminum fins. The brise-soleil helps shade the building during the day, while LED lights embedded in the system illuminate the tower at night.
Permission Granted for Two-Tower Paris Project
Ivanhoe Cambridge Inc., one of Canada’s largest property investors, received permission from Paris City Hall to start building a two-tower development on the River Seine designed by architect Jean Nouvel. The Tours Duo complex will include 27-story and 39-story office buildings, an eight-floor hotel, a restaurant, and public gardens.
"Carved Tower" Proposed for Downtown Vancouver
Renowned Japanese architect Kengo Kuma has designed a slender 40-story residential tower sited in Vancouver’s West End neighborhood, purchased by Westbank earlier in 2015 for $47 million. The tower’s striking façade features a combination of glass and polished anodized aluminum that will provide the structure with an almost checkered appearance.
Proposals for Portland, New York Win US Tall Wood Building Prize
US Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, in partnership with the Softwood Lumber Board and the Binational Softwood Lumber Council, announced the winners of the US Tall Wood Building Prize Competition. Two winning projects will each receive $1.5 million to fund their developments in Portland, OR, and New York City, respectively.
Two New Skyscrapers Proposed in Shibuya, Tokyo
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has approved plans for the redevelopment of the Sakura Gaoka neighborhood near Shibuya station, with the overarching goal of promoting the growth of businesses and cultural exchange. The redevelopment area encompasses about 2.6 hectares, and the project is divided into three distinct neighborhoods.
Preliminary Design of Burj 2020 Revealed at Cityscape Global in Dubai
A preliminary design was revealed for Burj 2020, a skyscraper that could potentially a height of reach up to 700 meters, with the top two floors operating as an observation deck. The master-planned Burj 2020 District will comprise seven towers and over one million square meters of built-up area. The complex's retail offerings will total over 100,000 square meters.

The second-round jury has selected five finalists who will present their projects at the CTBUH New York Conference, as well as be featured in an exhibit on-site.
IJHRB 2015 Volume 4 No. 3 Published
With CTBUH Korea, CTBUH has released the next issue of The International Journal of High-Rise Buildings, featuring seven papers from industry leaders.
CTBUH Australia Hosted “How are Cities Responding to Urbanism?”
The event included a half-day program of presentations from both local and international speakers, and a guided walking tour of the Brisbane CBD.
New Publishing Contract Reached with Tongji Press
Zhi Wenjun, TJUP, and Daniel Safarik, CTBUH China Director, recently signed an agreement covering several publications, including a Chinese language version of the CTBUH Journal.
