CTBUH-Wiley TAL Journal: Call for Papers New Staff Positions
The second CTBUH Annual Special multi-disciplinary edition of the John Wiley & Sons “Journal of the Structural Design of Tall and Special Buildings" will be published this December. The theme for this second issue is 'Tall Buildings and Sustainability'. Deadline for receipt of final papers is Friday 18th July. Papers addressing the theme within or across any discipline should be in the region of 4000-6000 words in length, plus images. If you would like to submit, contact special issue editor Antony Wood at awood@ctbuh.org.
Applications for the 3 new full-time staff positions, in conjunction with IIT Chicago, are now coming in. Deadline for receipt of applications is 30th June 2008. Interviews will take place in late July. Applications for the new CTBUH Research Manager should be submitted directly to CTBUH Executive Director Antony Wood, at awood@ctbuh.org . Applications for the Communications Director and Production Assistant posts should be submitted on-line via the IIT jobs portal at https://www.iitri.iit.edu. More detailed job descriptions can be found here.

Portland condominium tower project earns national bragging rights
There are dozens of platinum-certified Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design buildings in the United States. But only one of those buildings is a condominium tower, and it’s located in Portland with 61 units, the building achieved 55 LEED credits, three more than needed for platinum status...link

Making a mark on Manhattan
The building will boast a dramatic, highly decorative exterior inspired equally by the applied metal facades of Tribeca’s 19th century cast iron architecture and such contemporary sources as couture fashion, with its dramatic seams and construction techniques. Gleaming black horizontal ribbons of metal will wrap the facades, twisting and torquing into functional elements - balconies, terraces, and sunshades....link
Monterrey Tower Planned Under A Loop Of Stars
The Mexican city of Monterrey could soon have a funky new skyscraper adorning its skyline if proposals put forwardare given the green-light. Working with...Mexican architectural firm TEN Architects along with Alberto Vidal and David Rockwell, the team has come up with a rather spiffing skyscraper named Torre Fundadores or Founders Tower....link
