2012 International Student Competition Launched
The 2nd Annual International Student Tall Building Design Competition, sponsored by KONE, with prizes totaling US$27,000 in value, has a theme of “Reimagining Tall: Considering Context, Sustainability & Efficiency.”

The Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi Hotel Opens
Abu Dhabi’s iconic Capital Gate Tower is already in the Guinness Book of World Records for its 18 degree lean – more than four times that of the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. It now adds one more star to its name, the Hyatt Capital Gate Hotel, which occupies floors 18 through 33 of the building – and it's open for business.
Developer to Keep “Twin Towers” Design
Developer DreamHub says it will not alter the design of a twin-tower project despite complaints in the United States that it mimics the explosions at New York's World Trade Center Towers in 2001. The towers will be built at the entrance to Seoul’s redeveloped Yongsan business district by 2016.
Rafael Vinoly's Supertall in New York
Have a sneak peek at the model of NYC’s soon-to-be-tallest residential tower in Midtown East. The tower will be named the Drake Hotel, designed by Rafael Vinoly. The architectural plans show the 1,300-foot tall skyscraper located at a 56th Street / Park Avenue site, costing approximately US$1 billion.
Jerusalem Municipality Gives First Approval for Two Skyscrapers
The face of downtown Jerusalem is set to change dramatically after two major projects for tall buildings were recently approved by various municipality committees. The larger project, Eden Center, a 120-meter tall building designed by Daniel Libeskind, will include hotels, stores, apartments and movie theaters.

Prince Charitable Trusts Research Grant Secured
The Prince Charitable Trusts has awarded CTBUH a grant to move forward its ambitious plans to increase the funding and frequency of research on high-density urban developments.
Roosevelt University Tower: Technical Tour
CTBUH recently toured Louis Sullivan’s historic Chicago Auditorium Building, now housing Roosevelt University, as well as the new vertical campus tower nearing completion next door.
