Call for Nominations

Nominations are now being accepted for the CTBUH’s 11th Annual Awards program. In addition to the regional Best Tall Building Awards, the Council announces two new awards: Performance & Innovation.
  Council Launches Groundbreaking Skyscraper Site
The Council has launched "The Skyscraper Center," a site that will serve as the most comprehensive resource for information and images for thousands of tall buildings around the world including the new megatalls.

Kingdom Tower Project in Jeddah Gets Final Go-ahead
The plan to build the tallest tower in the world in Jeddah has been given the final clearance by local authorities, according to Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, chairman of Kingdom Holding Company. The SR4.6 billion Kingdom Tower will rise to more than 1,000 meters and serve as the centerpiece of the Kingdom City development.
Bow Skyscraper Nearing Completion in Downtown Calgary
Calgary’s biggest office tower project, The Bow, is nearing completion. Tenants are expected to begin moving in to the iconic 58-story skyscraper in the next few weeks. Energy companies Cenovus and Encana will be the primary occupiers of the 2 million square feet of office space.
Group Begins Work on “Vertical Farm” in Sweden
Plantagon recently broke ground on its very first vertical farm in Linkoping, Sweden. This prototype building will be called the International Centre of Excellence for Urban Agriculture, and it will serve as a facility for scientists to test new technologies aimed at improving urban farming.
Bank of America Plaza Becomes Atlanta's Priciest Repo
One of the biggest emblems of Atlanta's real estate boom is now an emblem of its bust. Bank of America Plaza, the South’s tallest skyscraper and an Atlanta skyline icon, was taken back by its lender at a foreclosure auction. The 55-story tower, bought for a record price in 2006, is metro Atlanta’s priciest repossession.
New CBD Tower in Singapore to Have “Cool” Space
Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD) is set to get another green building. CapitaGreen, a 40-story office tower to be built on the site of the former Market Street Carpark, will be property developer CapitaLand's second environmentally-friendly building in the CBD, following One George Street, which opened in 2004.
Ultra-high-speed Elevator for Skyscraper
Mitsubishi Electric Corp. gave an overview of its ultra-high-speed elevator developed for the 632-meter Shanghai Tower under construction in Shanghai, China. To realize the world's fastest speed of 1,080 meters per minute, Mitsubishi used new technologies to increase safety, lifting height, and comfort.

CTBUH Trustee Peter Irwin calls for the thoughtful development of ecological spaces within urban habitats, paying careful attention to what makes the environment truly sustainable.
CTBUH Hires Industry Veteran
Veteran building industry journalist Kevin Brass has joined the Council to direct communications strategy, create outreach programs and act as the CTBUH Journal's Editor.
New Façade Access Working Group
The latest CTBUH working group has been developed to further the successful integration of facade access system with tall buildings. The group will focus on the production of a technical guide for façade.
Shanghai Congress Meetings
CTBUH Chair Timothy Johnson and Executive Director Antony Wood were in Shanghai recently for meetings with the Congress Steering Committee and other significant Congress partners and sponsors.
Height Signboard Installed in the Philippines
The BSA Twin Towers recently inaugurated a CTBUH signboard recognizing its position as the tallest twin towers in the Philippines. CTBUH Chair Tim Johnson attended the ceremony.
New Donations for CTBUH Tall Building Library
