One Blackfriars is Underway
Construction has reportedly begun on the Ian Simpson-designed tower at One Blackfriars Road, World Architecture News reported. Developed by St. George, the 52-story tower will include 274 luxury apartments, retail and restaurant space, a boutique hotel and a landscaped piazza.
Nation’s Towers Open, Featuring World's Highest Suspended Suite
The second St. Regis Luxury Hotel in the Nation's Towers in Abu Dhabi is now ready to welcome guests, after an eight-month delay of initial inauguration plans. The hotel features what developers are calling "the world's highest suspended suite," including a sky bridge that connects the two towers.
One Thousand Museum Approved
One Thousand Museum Tower by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) has received unanimous approval from the Miami Urban Design Review Board. At 215 meters high, the development will be ZHA's first skyscraper in the western hemisphere.
Institute Recognizes World's First Passivhaus Skyscraper
The Raiffeisen-Holding Hochhaus office tower in Vienna has been certified as the world's first Passivhaus skyscraper. The Atelier Hayde Architekten building for Raiffeisen-Holding Group uses careful design strategies to reduce energy consumption to a fraction of conventional construction.
Shanghai Tower Celebrates Topping Out to Worldwide Fanfare
Topping out ceremonies for the Shanghai Tower were held in the Jujiazui financial hub on August 2. The ¥15 billion (US$2.4 billion) tower, whose concrete core is now complete will measure 632 meters and feature the world's fastest elevators, traveling the building's entire height in one minute.
Israel's Tallest Approved as Part of Four-Tower Plan
The Tel Aviv Local Planning and Building commission has approved the Keren HaKirya plan for an 80-story mixed-use tower, which could be Israel's tallest skyscraper, The Globes newspaper reported. The building will be part of a four-tower development, including office, commercial and residential space.
