UNStudio’s Ardmore Completed in Singapore
UNStudio recently completed the Ardmore Residence, a 36-story residential tower near the Orchard Road luxury shopping district in Singapore. Inspired by the lush gardens of the city, the Residence is organized around specific views and repeats a landscape theme through the entire tower.
Kinetic Sculpture Would Protect Museum from Tower's Glare
For two years, the owners of the Museum Tower in Dallas have been in a dispute with the neighboring Nasher Sculpture Center over an intense "hot spot" caused by the tower's highly reflective skin. Now, a team led by REX Architecture and Front has been commissioned to explore solutions to the phenomenon.
City Road Tower Gets Planning Nod
Melbourne Planning Minister Matthew Guy has reportedly granted approval for the skyscraper project at 256-260 City Road. The 61-story tower, designed by Australian firm Hayball, will combine residential, retail and hospitality uses. The AU$120 million is due for completion in 2017.
Newest Tower Coming to South China Singapore City
CPG Singapore has launched construction on its Thrive United office tower at South China Singapore City in the Nanhai District of Foshan. The building project will be part of a multi-tower mixed-use complex, which will include residential, school, retail, hotel and office spaces.
Race Heats Up to Build Western Canada's Tallest
BCM Developments is proposing a new 71-story mixed-use tower at 101 Street and 105 Avenue in Edmonton, Canada. The skyscraper, called The Edmontonian, is proposed to attain 278 meters in height, which could make it the tallest building in Western Canada.
De Rotterdam Opens
Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) has completed its colossal "vertical city" in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. OMA designed the 44-story De Rotterdam complex for its home city, where the building sits on the Maas River. After a period of finishing and furnishing, residents will start to move in early 2014.
