Auckland Announces Proposed Tallest Skyscraper
Mayor Len Brown welcomed Shanghai-based New Development Group’s NZ$350 million proposal for the 209-meter NDG Auckland Centre, which anticipates the title of “Auckland’s tallest building” upon completion.
Investor Bails Out Chicago Spire Project
Atlas Apartment Holdings plans to spend up to US$135 million to fully fund the reorganization of the Chicago Spire’s finances, which allows developer Shelbourne to resume construction of the Western Hemisphere's future tallest building.
Hong Kong Investors Bank on Dubai Pearl Project
Chow Tai Fook Endowment Industry Development (CTFE), a Hong Kong development group, has invested US$1.9 billion in the hopes of breathing life into the expansive, yet currently shelved, Dubai Pearl project.
Wilshire Grand’s Continuous Concrete Pour Breaks World Record
Construction of the supertall 335-meter Wilshire Grand Tower in Los Angeles is began, filling a 30-meter foundation with concrete in one fell swoop on February 15. The project set a Guinness World Record for the largest continuous concrete pour.
Solution Planned for Walkie Scorchie’s Rays
The owners of 20 Fenchurch, more recently known as “the Walkie-Scorchie” because of its ability to bend and concentrate light toward the street below, have proposed a solution to the building’s reflective beam.

A 300-meter tower designed by Henn Architects adopts the latest advancements in architecture to redefine the stereotypically severe skyscraper into an elegant structure that is classic in form but efficient in function.
